Kory Vargas Caro


Kory Vargas Caro is a 2015 MBA Candidate at the Haas School of Business at the University of California- Berkeley. He grew up in Silver Spring, MD and La Paz, Bolivia. Prior to making his way out to Berkeley, CA, Kory spent seven years in Washington, D.C., working on Capitol Hill and on political campaigns. He co-founded and ran Connectiva, a political finance consulting firm that designs and executes fundraising strategies for Congressional candidates and political initiatives. He received his undergraduate degree at Stanford University and returned to the Bay Area to further hone his entrepreneurial skills. While at Haas, Kory is taking full advantage of the school’s resources and exploring opportunities in the technology and start-up sectors.

In addition to serving as Liaison for the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, Kory is on the Sponsorship Committee for the Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC), the largest and oldest student run competition for social impact ventures. Although Kory misses the wit and sarcasm of the East Coast he has fully immersed himself in the laid back California lifestyle.

Stefanie Web

Stefanie A. Thomas


Just completing her first year as an MBA student at the University of Michigan, Stefanie is ecstatic about the passion, inspiration, learning, and community building that is in store for this summer’s road trip. These things resonate deeply with her as she looks to fulfill her personal goals to work with visionary entrepreneurs who have the capacity to build up communities and serve as role models for those who dare to dream of business ownership.

Stefanie’s background includes strategy work for CODE2040, a non-profit that provides professional development and internship experiences to aspiring Black and Latino tech entrepreneurs. Prior to that experience, Stefanie spent six years within syndications for the export & supply chain finance business of Citigroup. During that time in New York, she also worked with a group of young professionals to launch a career prep initiative for high school students called the Catalyst Network Foundation.

As a native of Washington, DC, Stefanie has aspirations to soon return to her hometown to work at the intersection of technology, entrepreneurship, and capital accessibility. She has a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and is currently an MBA candidate at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business with a focus in strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Nydia Web

Nydia Cardenas


Prior to business school, Nydia was a senior analyst at the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) focusing on the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. While at ICIC, she met hundreds of small business owners from across the country who inspired her with their energy, creativity and commitment to employing local residents. She is looking forward to hitting the road to discover new and exciting companies and engage with entrepreneurs more deeply.

At the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, Nydia is focusing on finance and inner city economic development. She is a member of the Social Venture Fund and a Fellow in the Center for Positive Organizations +LAB. Nydia’s love for sports led her to the Boston Red Sox for a six-month fellowship during which she spent many evenings at Fenway getting to know Red Sox Nation. Nydia is from Fort Worth, Texas and holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.

Saurabh Web

Saurabh Kumar


Saurabh is a first year MBA student at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee after which, he spent five years with Deloitte Consulting. During his time at Deloitte, he worked extensively with public health agencies in Massachusetts on claims reimbursement process, program management and healthcare delivery operations. He decided to pursue an MBA to build upon his business strategy and entrepreneurial skills. Saurabh is extremely excited about this summer and is looking forward to working and engaging with entrepreneurs throughout the U.S.
