The Creative Coast: Savannah, GA

"At the end of our week with MBAxAmerica I was devastated and thought, 'How can will we survive without our new faithful friends?' Two months out I realize we don’t have to. The wisdom, connections, and resources of our MBAx team are integrated into everything we do here at the Creators’ Foundry so their impact and support live on!"

What they do:

The Creative Coast is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization supported by The City of Savannah and The Savannah Economic Development Authority focused on nurturing the members of the Savannah community engaged in creative or innovative endeavors and cultivating an environment in which they can thrive.

Quote:

“Savannah is a gorgeous, innovative, and welcoming community. Yet, we battle a 28.6% poverty rate, sub-par k-12 education largely due to an abundance of $327/week jobs and a lack of $50,000/year jobs. The Creative Coast helps to create the later.

What we helped them with:

MBAx1 Summer 2014:

We helped TCC think through the opportunity and challenges facing them as they transition for the first time from a virtual organization to one that occupies and manages a physical space geared toward achieving its mission. We put together a sustainable business plan on how to best use this space, all the while balancing the expectations of many different stakeholders, the needs of entrepreneurs, and the non-profit’s mission.

Testimonial:

“At the end of our week with MBAxAmerica I was devastated and thought, ‘How can will we survive without our new faithful friends?’  Two months out I realize we don’t have to.  The wisdom, connections, and resources of our MBAx team are integrated into everything we do here at the Creators’ Foundry so their impact and support live on!”

What we learned:

Nonprofits like TCC can be powerful catalysts and conveners of for-profit entrepreneurs and activity in communities.
