Will Anderson founded Salemtown Board Company in Nashville, TN to combine his two biggest passions in life – social service and board sports. The dream behind the company was to create job opportunities for disadvantaged youth who get left out and have limited access to economic opportunities.

MBAx1 Summer 2014:
We worked with the Salemtown team to solidify and express four main tenants of the brand, and establish targets and goals for the future of the company, including skateboard and non-skateboard revenue and even youth development. We also helped them revamp their website and worked with them on tools for sales and digital analytics.

Outsiders often impose a tension between profitability and impact on purpose-driven companies, but when a company is driven by a strong founder with clear priorities, tension is replaced by commitment, excitement, and positive outcomes for the community.
